I always thought that Lear was one of my favorites, but I’d never seen it performed. I just watched the ‘71 movie with Paul Scofield, and found the whole thing surprisingly slow and overly arty (to say nothing of overly shouty). Was it the performance? Was I a different person in college (obviously yes, but you know)? Does it read better than it plays? I don’t know. I’m sort of disappointed now.

I jostled, rebooted, even fixed permissions. Nothing. So, I cracked it to reseat the card. In the process I dropped one of those teeny, tiny little screws. I peered, brushed, even got a magnet. I found a rock, some bits of wood, some lint, something I couldn’t begin to identify and enough dust to choke a bunny, but the screw remains determinedly missing.

The computer works. I have a network again, but I remain thoroughly unsatisfied.
