I don’t know why this picture makes me laugh so much. via

In the introduction to this series of pictures of people sleeping, the writer (photographer?) mentions that people are unposed and unguarded when they are photographed while sleeping. That may be, but for some reason, these images still seem highly posed to me. I still like the series and find it interesting, but it just doesn’t feel as unguarded as you’d expect. I’d like to set up a time lapsed camera to photograph myself, but the amount of light you need would probably make it pretty hard to actually sleep.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) Photography in Photoshop CS2

Flash Photography with Canon EOS Cameras - Part I. provides a very detailed discussion of using Flash with Canon cameras. It also may help explain why some images I took recently had a bunch of motion blur even though I was using flash and expected to be able to freeze the action.

Photo Synchronicity

I just mentioned the Photography of Todd Hido a few posts before this one. It turns out that he currently has a showing at the Rose Gallery . I’m so there!

How to Be a Curious Photographer offers some tips on getting creative with your photos.

Great Photographer

I really like Todd Hido’s Photography. The landscapes in particular are wonderful. I don’t like the portraits as much. He seems to make better photographs when the people are gone — or more to the point, present but not seen.

There’s a Retrospective of Wolfgang Tillmans at the Hammer museum right now. I’m not as familiar with photographers as I’d like to be, but after seeing his image Chaos Cup I definitely want to go check this show out.

And, if anybody knows of other photographers that are doing work similar to that, please let me know. I’d like to be more educated about who’s out there doing stuff like that.

There are some truly remarkable images over on Kenneth Parker’s Photography site.

99 Interesting Photos

Some of These Photos are interesting. Some are disturbing. A lot seem to be filler. It would have been better if it was 30 interesting photos from 2006 instead of 99. Still, worth a quick scan if you aren’t too busy.
