I switched to a new web host. If you can see this, then it must have worked. I also decided that since I was going to be moving files and breaking stuff, I may as well bite the bullet and switch to a new blogging tool/content management system. I opted for Wordpress.
I know that portions of the site are sort of broken right now. I still need to find the time to figure out how to edit “Wordpress themes” so that I can make the site look like I want. I also need to figure out how to create pages to drive the other sections of my site. In the meantime, you’ll get a hybrid where some of the pages look like they used to and others look like a new semi-theme. Please bare with me during the construction phase.

I don’t know if this tale of Google’s behind the scenes plotting regarding the purchase of Youtube is genuine or not, but it’s an interesting read all the same.

This story about Steve Wozniak getting a visit from Secret Service for passing out $2 bills that are torn off a perforated sheet is fantastic.
God I love Woz. I can’t believe he passed the secret service agent a fake ID.

I gotta say, I’ve never considered bar codes unattractive. Actually, I never considered them at all, but somebody has, and they’ve figured out you can design them to look interesting. I’m still not very concerned about standard bar codes, but design bar codes are pretty cool.

Lightweight data exploration in Excel offers a few interesting ideas for visualizing data in Excel. I can’t imagine a situation where I’d use it. As long as it’s already in Excel, I imagine I’d just bust out a real chart, but it’s an interesting idea all the same.

This plane is a better dancer than I am. I’m amazed that it can just float there and hover like that. I want one now.

Cripes! What do you suppose the chances are that I won’t be acutely aware of Justin’s Rattlesnake Bite story the next time I go hiking? Seriously, I was overly aware of looking for snakes before, and that was when I thought that snakes would mostly try to avoid humans if possible. Justin says he was just sitting there with his arm dangling. The Pictures are absolutely horrifying.
