I appreciate that my credit card provider spotted that fraudulent charge, and let me know. It’s actually pretty impressive that they were able to recognize a single fraudulent charge that may have easily been something I would have bought. I appreciate that I won’t be responsible for that charge. That kind of safety is why I use credit cards. But, now they have to close the account and it will be 5 to 7 days until I get my new card. What am I supposed to do until then? Use cash? What is this 1953?

My computer suddenly lost its wireless network card. I jostled, rebooted, even fixed permissions. Nothing. So, I cracked it to reseat the card. In the process I dropped one of those teeny, tiny little screws. I peered, brushed, even got a magnet. I found a rock, some bits of wood, some lint, something I couldn’t begin to identify and enough dust to choke a bunny, but the screw remains determinedly missing.

The computer works. I have a network again, but I remain thoroughly unsatisfied.

AppleOne is an employment services company. They can help you find a job, or set you up with some temporary assignments, or if you’re an employer AppleOne can help you find your next employee. As with any organization, there are a few tips that can help you get the most out of your experience, so here are the top 5 ways to get the most out of your experience with AppleOne.

1. Understand What AppleOne Can Do For You
AppleOne is a general employment service that can place you in a wide range of positions. But, there are some core positions that AppleOne tends to specialize in. You’ll have the best luck if you’re looking for administrative positions. That would be things like Administrative Assistants, Receptionists, Executive Assistants, Customer Service and other positions like that. If you’re open to this type of work and have experience with this type of work emphasize that.

2. Understand the Nature of the Relationship
AppleOne understands that job seekers are critical to its success. The idea that the applicant is the center of the universe is a VERY large part of its culture. But, it’s a two way street. You need to sell yourself and your capabilities just like you would with any employer. Dress professionally for an interview when you go in to meet with your representative. Emphasize the things in your past the prove that you’re a committed worker who has the skills and abilities to do the work that you want AppleOne to help you secure. Your representative wants to make sure that if they send you out to meet with a client company or to work on an assignment that you will do the job well and will reflect well on their professional judgment. Eliminate any doubts they may have, and work to make your representative like you. If they like you, they’ll look forward to working with you, and they’ll think of you first when new opportunities come into the office.

3. Register with Multiple Offices
AppleOne offices do share job orders amongst themselves and it is possible to get assigned to a job order that came into an office your representative doesn’t work in, but the recruiter is going to think of people they’ve met personally first. Increase your chances and take advantage of the opportunity to meet any reasonably local office. If you take tests or complete an application in one office, that will be shared amongst offices so meeting with a second or third rep won’t be quite so long a process.

4. Stay in Touch
AppleOne has a web based tool to report on your availability for assignments. Be sure to use it and let your rep know when you gain new experiences or skills. If you find a job you’d really love to get, let your rep know. They may have some ins with that company that can increase your chances of getting the job.

5. Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket
AppleOne helps hundreds of thousands of job seekers each year. Hopefully, they’ll be able to help you. But, don’t feel like your work is done after you’ve registered. AppleOne is just one source of work. Keep networking and applying to jobs.
