Wow, That’s Bad

OK, so we won’t go into why I was watching Saturday Night Live. Suffice it to say that if you can watch the show on a TiVo, it isn’t too painful, and I typically don’t have a lot of shows to watch on Sunday morning when I wake up anyway, so the season pass doesn’t really cost me much.

Anyway, I’m watching last nights show, and Gwen Stefani is one of the musical guests. This was quite possibly one of the worst performances I have ever seen in my life. I thought that when she did a cover from Fiddler on the Roof that was kind of bad, but this went so far beyond that it was actually a little awe inspiring.

She start off yodeling. Then she moves onto to this sort of rap. I think it’s supposed to be a look how sexy I am Fergie type of song (and Stefani is really sexy, so it should work well), but the rap itself is so forced and stilted that it’s even worse than Fergalicious. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get this performance out of my head.

She only did one song on the show. They had somebody else do the second act for some reason. If that’s the song from her new album that she decided to lead with, I would love to hear what else didn’t get performed. It must suck harder than 100 black holes.

New Server and Blogging Tool

I switched to a new web host. If you can see this, then it must have worked. I also decided that since I was going to be moving files and breaking stuff, I may as well bite the bullet and switch to a new blogging tool/content management system. I opted for Wordpress.

I know that portions of the site are sort of broken right now. I still need to find the time to figure out how to edit “Wordpress themes” so that I can  make the site look like I want. I also need to figure out how to create pages to drive the other sections of my site. In the meantime, you’ll get a hybrid where some of the pages look like they used to and others look like a new semi-theme. Please bare with me during the construction phase.

Tony vs. Paul is a stop motion video of two friends fighting. It’s really well done. It must have taken forever to take all of those shots.

This Is Not a Placebo

It seems like I may have blogged this once before (or something very much like it). Just in case though, here’s a New Scientist article that outlines 13 things that do not make sense.

Sitemaps for Search Engines

Sitemaps are a way to clue search engines into the structure of your site. It’s an interesting idea, but it would seem to require a lot of hand tweaking or a site that is build by a database.

New Sport

I wish I liked running more than I do, because Urban Sprinting looks like it would be great for a laugh.

Making Art from Books

Wow! The Book/Cut Sculptures that Su Blackwell does are amazing. I love the idea here.

Inside Dirt on Google/Youtube

I don’t know if this tale of Google’s behind the scenes plotting regarding the purchase of Youtube is genuine or not, but it’s an interesting read all the same.
