Interesting Impressions

I don’t quite know what to make of Animaux Pictures over on gneborg.org. The animal impressions are very well done, but also sort of creepy and strange. It’s like mime for the internet or something.

BlackBoxVoting has completed log analysis of 40 touch screen voting machines in Florida and found multiple problems. They don’t go so far as to label it voter fraud yet, but I do.

Proof of Vote Fraud in 2004 Florida Election. Don’t accept this America!

Cancun

I took a short trip down to Cancun, Mexico. I’d never been before. It was fun. I had hoped to be able to do some SCUBA diving, but more than that, I wanted to take some interesting photos.

I forgot my camera battery and memory card one day though, and the trip was so short that it left me with a choice of going out with the camera the next day or diving. There was just now practical way to do both.

I opted for going out with the camera — photos here. I’m not very happy with these, but sometimes you can only do what you can do.

Oh, and I got to pick up and play with a spider monkey while I was down there. It was the cutest, most friendly and playful little thing you ever saw. Somebody has pictures. I’ll see if I can get them.

Interesting Presentation

Dick Hardt’s Keynote at Identity 2.0 was pretty interesting. It seems to me that the browser is more likely to be where something like this happens, but I’d never heard of any of the companies he mentions at the end, so I’m clearly out of the loop on a bunch of that stuff.

Mayan Astronomy

Some interesting speculation into why the Mayans chose 2012 for the end of their calendar.

Check Out the New Music

Audiri looks like a pretty good resource for finding new artists. I’m assuming that these are all unsigned artists. I’ll have to explore a bit more and maybe buy a few CDs.

My parents were in Riverside, so I drove out to see them. There are a few photos here.

Fantastic Photos

Scott Stulberg makes some nice photographs.

My New Project

My twos of readers will undoubtedly have noticed that things have been a bit quiet around these parts for the past few months. That’s because I’ve been working on a new project which I’m finally ready to launch.

Friendly Dinner is an introduction/dining club for people who are interested in meeting new friends and sampling some of the incredible food that Los Angeles has to offer. Essentially, we plan open dinner parties at great restaurants, where diners have an opportunity to meet new and interesting people and enjoy a fun and social evening.

Check it out, and let me know what you think. Tell your friends and neighbors. Give me some link love, and if you’re in the LA area, please think about joining us for a dinner. They should really be a lot of fun.
