All the water and all the air shows a graphic illustration of all the water on earth if it was combined into a single ball. Put up against the scale of the earth, it looks like there’s practically no water on earth at all.
That’s very surprising to me since I thought the earth was mostly water. Turns out, no.
They also have a graphic representation of the atmosphere if it was compressed into the pressure at sea level. There’s actually a bunch more of that than I would have guessed though compared to the size of the earth it also looks like practically nothing.

Well, it’s official. Fox has Cancelled Arrested Development.
The bastards!
I don’t get that station. They green light incredible shows like Serenity, Arrested Development, Family Guy and Gregg the Bunny, but then they cancel them before they can find an audience. I guess it’s good that we at least have shows like that at all, but I sure wish some station would green light incredible shows and then keep them around for a while.
I wonder if some production company could do straight to DVD TV shows. I guess there’d be a lot of risk in something like that, but it would be pretty cool.

I like the idea of something like Database Imaginary:
Databases drive culture. 33 artists take us on an imaginative and subversive ride. The artists presented in Database Imaginary use databases to comment on their uses and to imagine unknown uses.
The actual work though (what I’ve seen of it so far — I’ve only made it to the first 3) seems to be based on computers in general more than databases in the specific. Anyway, another example where the concept seems better than the execution.

The “No Good” Video (embedded QT) by Plan B is a stop motion work of genius.

There is an awful lot of nudity in the video (QT) for Koufax’s song “Isabelle”. Now, normally, I wouldn’t find that to be too big a deal really except that they’ve gone in and stripped away everybody’s genitals and nipples. I suppose they thought it would be less offensive or something, but it gives everybody this Ken doll type of look that I find to be equal parts mesmerizing and horrifying. It’s like that scene in Silance of the Lambs where the killer is dancing around in his woman suit. Very creepy.

To Partner, or Not to Partner? offers some good thoughts on the who, what, why, where and how of deciding whether to add a partner to your company.

The Birds of America is a remarkably beautiful site. there’s so much to click on and experience here that it’s almost too much.

This Movie combines the worst of all possible media players. You get the WMV file that can’t be played as an embedded movie in Mozilla for the Mac for reasons I’ve never worked very hard to figure out.
So, I switch over to Safari, which will at least offer to pop it out of the page and play it in Windows Media Player. But then, I get the buffering headaches that normally goes along with Real. On top of that, I’m pretty sure the song they’re playing in the background is Xanadu.
Still, the effect of somebody poking their finger into a video file and changing the view from day to night is really cool.
