I just heard that author, Andre Norton, passed away at the age of 93. I hope her passing was pleasant. Her Witch World novels were hugely formative to me as a young boy. She leaves an incredible legacy and her stories will forever live on in the heart of our imaginations and wonder.

Spike Jonze did a nice ad for Adidas (QuickTime). Shoes used to be magical. With the right pair, you could run faster, jump higher. This seems to capture some of that spirit with a dream like quality to it all.

Maganic Wars is a fun little magic card game. It’s kind of slow to load. At one point it even seemed to crash my browser, and I don’t really get a lot of how to use some of the various spells or whatever. Still, pretty good effort for a student game.

Today, I headed up to Pasadena to go to the Norton Simon and the Los Angeles Arboretum. I’d never been to the Arboretum before. It’s a really nice place. Much larger than I expected, and certainly worth checking out if you have a chance.
It was a fun day, and I took a bunch of photos.

Dang it all! I finally get around to fixing that toilet that keeps periodically turning itself on, and it turns out I fixed the wrong thing. Let this be a lesson to you. You can’t trust the helpful little diagnostic diagrams they have at the home depot. I think I actually made it worse. Bah!

OK, I’m posting The Commonly Confused Words Test because it played directly into my vanity calling me a genius and heaping praise upon praise onto me. But, I’m a little tweaked that it says I missed a few and then doesn’t tell me what it thinks I missed (or why it thinks I’m wrong). What the hell is that?! I would assume that the test is wrong if not for the fact that it’s so obviously correct about my greatness.

Some people on the web were raving about how funny Robot Chicken was, so I told TiVo to grab me a few episodes. It really is kind of good in a wring the funny out of the morass of pop culture kind of way. More than any show I think I’ve ever seen it seems to have been written by and for people with attention deficit disorder.

It’s not very easy to play on a laptop, but Notepad Invaders is still pretty cool.

I don’t know what the hell is going on in Watermelon Love (quicktime possibly NSFW). I tried reading the subtitles, but that didn’t really help AT ALL. Via
