LA Science Center

The California Science Center (which I didn’t even know existed until a few days ago) was having an exhibition about risk. They sold it as this exciting participatory kind of thing where you could risk your life walking on an iron beam 17 stories above the ground like a construction worker or laying on a bed of nails.

It was pretty sanitized risk though. The iron beam wasn’t even 17 inches much less 17 stories. They ran it over a photo looking down into the street. I did get to lay on a bed of nails. I already knew the physics of the thing though, so that wasn’t much of an adventure.

I also spent a few hours wandering around some of the other exhibits taking photos.

It’s a pretty cool place, but you really need to be a kid (or be there with a kid) to get the most out of those types of exploratorium type places. If you are in LA, and you have kids, it’s certainly worth checking out.
