Wow, the stuff PIPS:lab is doing is really interesting. I assume the lighting effects are being digitally added later. It sure would be cool if they were done at the time the photos were taken though. Anyway, check it out. It’s really quite interesting.

Update: I take it back. After looking closer, I think the lighting effects are done at the time the photos are taken. They must open the shutter in a totally dark room, paint a design with light, then pop a strobe to capture the artists without any kind of motion blur. Very, very cool!
