Star Dudes - NICE!

Defend Your Castle

Pick up the attacking soldiers and drop them to their deaths. The game warns that your wrist will hurt. On the first couple of levels you may be tempted to wonder - what are they kidding? They aren’t kidding.

Oh My God - That’s Nasty

I’ve never been afraid of spiders. I know plenty of people who are, but spiders just seem small and kind of harmless to me. When I have one take up residence in my place, I typically ignore it on the assumption that they’ll eat all of the other annoying little insects.

But then…

Oh my god, then I read Linda’s Journal documenting her experience with the bite of a Brown Recluse Spider. That is one nasty little bug. Wow! The pictures on that link are scary and certainly not for the faint of heart.

Finally!!!

I finally managed to finish Perdido Street Station. It is as though a huge weight has been removed from my skull.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s a reasonably good book filled with many interesting inventions. It’s just that I’ve been struggling to get through this thing since at least early December of last year. Other books kept cropping up to distract me here or there, but this one kept hanging over me like a grey fog that I’d have to return to and slowly wade through a page or two at a time.

So, finally it is done. Now on to The Da Vinci Code. Hopefully this one will go a bunch faster.

Tragic Story

A body is found in the frozen North Dakota woods. The cops say the dead Japanese woman was looking for the $1m she saw buried in the film Fargo. But the story didn’t end there.

This transcript of a presentation in which Will Wright of Maxis/Electronic Arts (the mind behind the Sims and other games of that sort) discusses game design theory is a MUST READ!!

It is truly fascinating. Every time I see Wright interviewed or read something like this, I desperately want to give the Sims another try. I know there are people who love Sim City and the Sims and all of those types of games. I just hate them though. Too much character maintenance and not enough fun for my tastes. Still, you read something like this, and he is so obviously smart and so obviously a master of what he does, I just want to be able to like it more.

That’s Not Right

I’m sorry. Are they really trying to sell the Old School DVD by suggesting that if you get the unrated version you’ll get to see Will Ferrell’s wang? I don’t understand. Who thought that was a good idea?

Mmmm Mmmmm Soup is Good Food

Fancy Soup is a strange, but interesting animated web cartoon. There have been seven of them so far. This is number five. Hit the guys home for links to the other episodes, or just hack the URL.

Stupid Body

My dumb body woke me up this morning at around 5 AM for no other reason than simple spite. Well, OK, I did get to bed a bit earlier than normal last night due to the fact that staying out really, incredibly, just stupidly late on both Friday and Saturday knocked my internal clock deep into the twilight zone. Still, 5 o’clock? In the blessed AM?

And, do you suppose that’s evidence that my body has now rested all that it would like to rest? Do you think I’m caught up and bright eyed and bushy tailed. Nope (well, except for the tail part or maybe just the bushy part). I feel like I’m trying to think through about 13 gallons of molasses this morning. Stupid body.

Well, look at that. It seems I was quoted in a New York Times Article on music and the internet. I don’t think the first clause of the last sentence of the quote sounds like something I’d be likely to say, but they got the gist of it I guess.

I was pretty sure they weren’t going to use me at all, but they did.
