This description of life in a North Korean prison is so ghastly, I hope it’s just propaganda.
It was horrible to watch the prison doctor kicking the pregnant women with his boots. When a baby was born, the doctor shouted, “Kill it quickly. […] Kill it.” […] The prisoner/nurses, with trembling hands, squeezed the babies’ necks to kill them. […] I was so shocked with that scene that I still see the mothers weeping for their babies in my nightmares. I saw the baby-killing twice while I was in the prison.
I know that as a species we’re capable of acts of incredible brutality, but this seems too over-the-top to be real.

Ha! iPod vs. Sliced Bread is super funny. Except by my count I think they gave the win to the wrong side.

I was interested in Wired’s coverage of an quaternions. According to the story, a quaternion is an equation used in calculating vectors and other physicsy types of things. They also seem in some weird way to have led to the development of radio. Thing is, Wired doesn’t describe what the equation is or how it works. They don’t describe it at all - not even a very dumbed down version. They only describe the impact.
Maybe that’s all most of their readers are interested in. I found it pretty annoying though. I was about to go google up some information for myself. Then I realized - this is the kind of thing that will probably end up on MetaFilter in a day or two. Whoever posts it is probably going to go dig up a bunch of links to hide the fact that their post is completely lame. So, rather than doing the research myself, I’m going to wait to see what turns up on MetaFilter. I suspect the post itself won’t have very many interesting links, but somebody in the thread will point me towards a remarkable resource for understanding quaternions. Of course this is all just a wild ass guess at this point. It may not show up there, and if it does it may not be formatted in the way I expect, but does anybody want to put 5 bucks down against it happening just the way I describe?

ArtKrush looks like a great site. If I wasn’t so tired right now, I could probably lose myself there for a while. As it is, my attention span is just this side of a sugar hyped TV addict on a Saturday morning/MTV bender.

I’ve been wanting to find a list like this:
EmailSherpa’s List of Words That Will Get You Filtered
Some of these seem amazingly random.

I only have 57 minutes left to decide whether I want to take advantage of the Cuisinart Automatic Ice Cream Maker offered in my amazon gold box. I have thought about getting an ice cream maker, in fact I think I even went so far as adding this very one to my wishlist a while ago (since removed for one reason or another). I’m sorely tempted, but I suspect this thing will end up being more crap for my cupboards. I always get these things and I never use them more than 2 or 3 times. I don’t know what to do… Oh - only 53 minutes now left to decide.

I ordered a set of Altec Lansing ATP3 flat-panel 3-piece speakers for my computer at work. I listen to MP3s at work a lot, and the positioning of my computer tends to place the sound more outside of my office than in making it louder for others as opposed to me. Plus, the speakers that come stock in the Macs are adequate, but a little cheezy sounding. more…

How much does Quicken 2003 for the Mac suck?
|———————This F*cking Much———————-|
I upgraded to this piece of crap 2 months ago, and since then it’s been nothing but one corrupted account after another. I have years of financial records, and this is just turning them to swiss cheese.
Here’s a thought Intuit: Don’t screw with people’s finances - particularly if you are in the business of selling financial software. How ’bout a little quality control before you release this plague onto people.
Interface: Sucks
Promised Web Integration: Sucks
Data Integrity: Really F*cking Sucks!!!
There’s nothing good about this program. If you have a Mac, stay the hell away.
*Scale: 1 pixel = 20,000 Sucky F*cking Miles!
