The Oracle of Google
September 15th, 2002 by Will
The Oracle of Google does a very good job answering multiple choice questions.
For instance I asked it who wrote Great Expectations. I tried to trip it up by including David Copperfield as one of the choices on the assumption that there would be nearly as many “Great Expectations” AND “David Copperfield” page matches as there are matches for “Great Expectations” AND “Charles Dickens”. But, it got it right.

I’m a goon. Turns out there are 4 times as many Dickens Great Expectations matches as there are Copperfield Great Expectations matches. I may need to spend some time thinking of questions to stump this thing. Way more fun than the which TV character or famous dictator am I?
Damn! How did it know it was Bart? I would have sworn that would come back Homer.
Hi there, doing The Oracle has given me a new hobby, searching for sites that are linking to it :D.
Thanks for the positive comments guys, oh and I’m afraid you’re on the wrong track as to how it works!
Have fun,
Jonathan.
