Wigu

Wigu is sort of a cute little on-line comic. It reminds me a little of Calvin and Hobbs, only, you know — not quite as good. Still, worth 15 or 20 minutes of your time. I’ve been enjoying it, but now I must put it away so that I can focus on celebrity boot camp. Normally, I wouldn’t waste my time on those fox crap shows, but I find this one irresistible. It’s true, my name is shame.

Buzz Movie Weekend

So, this was the weekend I finally got around to seeing some of those movies that everybody had been talking about when they came out. Namely Moulin Rouge and O Brother, Where Art Thou?.

My preconceptions about these movies turned out to be “mostly” wrong, and I actually ended up liking both of them more than I assumed that I would. more…

CSS Design - Taming Lists

Good article about using CSS to control the way unordered lists appear. A List Apart: CSS Design: Taming Lists

Yaaawwn………nn

Mmmmmm….. Is there anything better than a 2 hour nap on a lazy Saturday?

Yes. When it’s catching you up on a 1 1/2 week sleep deficit, that’s better. And, when it’s the kind of sleep you can only get when flirting with the edges of an antihistamine induced coma, that’s even better still.

But, could the music directors at the DirectTV Progressive music channel (or really just the universe in general since it’s not just confined to that channel), please cool it with the Neil Young? Once a month is a fine and interesting. I really don’t need him as one of the core artists in the soundtrack of my life. How ’bout some more Jonatha Brooke or Liz Phair OK?

Update: I went to CPK for dinner, and they were playing Jonatha Brooke’s song, “Where Were You?”. Thank you Universe. Now, how about a million dollars?

Oooh, It Hurts to Watch

So, Kevin Mitnick and Steve Wozniak hosting The Screensavers - this sounds in theory as though it would be the dream show of all time. Woz is such a cool guy, and Kevin is interesting and seems articulate whenever I’ve seen him interviewed. The reality though was so stilted that even I, the king of train-wreck television, could barely bring myself to continue watching it. Really, really painful to see.

The New “copyspeak”

Gary Shapiro speaks The Truth

To make downloading immoral, you have to accept that copyrighted products are governed by the same moral and legal principles as real property, thus the recent and continuous reference by the copyright community to label downloading as stealing. But the fact is that real and intellectual property are different and are governed by different principles.

Downloading a copyrighted product does not diminish the product, as would be the case of taking and using tangible property such as a dress. At worst, it is depriving the copyright owner of a potential sale. The truth is, it may be causing a sale (through familiarity) or, even more likely, have no impact on the sale.

Don’t believe the media spin people. They, not us are the thieves. The “rights” they want to secure for themselves are in direct conflict with the rights you currently enjoy, and there’s no reason to give them what they are trying to steal from you.

Answers

Last week, I invited everybody to as me a question. Surprisingly, I was actually asked more questions off-line than on-line. I shall now attempt to answer all of them. more…

Great story about a head to head test of e-mail versus direct mail over on ClickZ

I’ll be taking a mini-blogging break for the next week or so. I may post if I come across something too grand to ignore, but mostly don’t expect much until late next week.

In the mean time, feel free to:

Ask Me A Question!

Make it interesting, make it hard to answer, and I will do just that* when I get back to writing.

*I promise an answer - I don’t promise it will be right or that it will make sense.

Come Again?

What do you suppose These Pictograms from a Lithuanian sign mean? Public Restroom Next stop: Smiling, 40 (distance or ounces of sweet, sweet malt liqueur?), Mona Lisa and Vehicular Cliff Diving. I mean seriously there has to be more than just cultural differences at work here doesn’t there?
