Whenever I can, I try to tell people about the growing war over intellectual property and copyright. I try to explain why these things represent fundamental threats to our freedoms and culture. Mostly I fail. I talk to my parents or people I work with, and the eyes glaze over. It’s not something that they feel effects them.
It does effect you.
It effects us all.
This is a growing threat, and it is extremely important. Please take a moment to go view this presentation. It’s 8 megs which means it is a very big file. It’s going to take a while to download to your computer. If you’re on a dial-up, just click the link and then go make some coffee or go take a shower or vacuum or something. Once it’s downloaded, please watch it and pay attention to it.
You’ll need a computer that can play sounds. You’ll want to turn your computer speakers on if they are currently off. You’ll also need a program called Flash – you probably already have it. If you don’t, it’s free and easy to get. I know some of the people who visit my site don’t have a lot of experience with computers. If you need me to help you figure out how to get these things, let me know. Watch this presentation, and please do something to stop this raping of our collective cultures. The EFF is a good place to start. They talk more about that at the end of the presentation. I’m a member, and I’m happy to send them my money. They are fighting for us.
