Other People's Photos

I just spent about 7 minutes randomly refreshing through some stranger's photo gallery. These aren't art shots (most of them). They're just kind of the random shots you snap off of friends or vacation trips or whatever.

I don't know why I find them so fascinating, but I do. Probably because I'm bored and hungry, and really, really tired tonight. Also, I've got a bit of the voyeur in me. I guess it's a good thing I never went to work at one of those 1-hour photo marts. I might have ended up like Robin Williams or something.

Sometimes, I'll be walking down the street, and I'll see somebody that I don't know. In all likelihood, I'll never know them or even see them again. They're off living some completely different life. It's unconnected to me, it's not even real, but it's 100% real to them. There are people they love that are important to them, and there are things to hope for, and things to fear, and tragedy, and joy. A complete life, a complete universe -- and it's completely unconnected to mine in any way except for this one moment of passing. And, how many lives are there that are not connected to me in any way -- not even in passing. Looking into somebody's photos is like looking into one of those lives. It's a little awesome when you think about it.

I don't have a random script (maybe I should do one), but you can see some of my photos here.
