I have to confess, I don't quite know what to make of the movie, Secretary. I knew going it that it would be sort of a kinky freak-fest. It is certainly that. What surprises me though is that it doesn't seem to be very much more than that.

The entire point of this movies seems to be geared towards titillation. In a way, I found myself wondering if I was just watching some kind of high-brow pornography. Not to imply it's just wall to wall banging. There is some nudity and sexual content, but most of the sexual element is implied and left to the imagination. It's an approach that is very effective. It's a very sexy movie. It's also wonderfully acted, highly stylized and beautiful to see.

It's just there's really no story there. I suppose it could be argued that a story would have gotten in the way, but I can't help feeling it's a weaker film for the absence.
