Universal announced they're going to make about a 10th of their catalog available for download from EMusic. This is the first of the music label proposals I might consider supporting. I need more details though. I mean they're only talking about a 1000 albums, and while I might be OK paying $10-20/month for a music service I expect some ownership to come along with that. They say you will have the right to do everything you can with a regular CD, but they're also looking to see whether this cannibalize sales. If I'm paying for it then I consider a sale to have happened, so I'm not sure what they're really looking for here. Try the MP3's for $20/month, then buy our $15 CD if you like them. Probably not. I don't know. I need more information. Link
